"We must all do theater, to find out who we are, and to discover who we could become." - Augusto Boal

Middle school and high school years are ones in which students start discovering who they are and what they love. Not every student's talents lie on the athletic field or in the classroom. Instead, their gifts may be found in the footlights, the sound booth, or the costume or scene shop. However, in many school districts across the country, performing arts programs have been slashed, leaving these students without a place to find their voices and themselves.

At Corona Del Mar High School and Middle School, our students are extremely fortunate. They are fortunate to have a state of the art theater on campus. They are fortunate to have talented educators who are passionate about teaching the art of live theater and producing outstanding shows. And they are fortunate to have administrators and school board members who support those educators' efforts. However, maintaining facilities, producing shows, and providing students with an exceptional performing arts curriculum requires funding and support.

The Backstage and Performing Artists Company ("BAPACo") was founded six years ago to raise those funds for, and provide that support to, the Corona Del Mar High School and Middle School drama departments. We are an all-volunteer, registered 501c3 non-profit, with 100% of the funds donated to our organization going to the performing arts at CdMHS and MS. We exist solely to assist students at CdM to have rich and rewarding experiences in live theater, whether they are backstage or onstage.

To all the donors and volunteers who contributed their time, talents, and money to BAPACo over the years, we say a sincere thank you! We wouldn’t be where we are today without you and we are humbled and amazed by your generosity! If you haven’t made a donation, and have a passion for the performing arts, or have been in the audience for one of the fantastic CdM productions and saw something that inspired or moved you, please consider making a donation to, or volunteering with, BAPA Co. Every donation supports us in our continuing pursuit to help students discover who they are and who they may become through live theater.
